There was work to do before we even started wrestling. I had about eight e-mails from coaches and schools about misspellings, mistakes in the bouts and a question about the time of a pin. I dealt with our press box worker to get those issues resolved. I had a brief meeting with Joey about how things went yesterday and what was on the docket for today.
This day was run exactly like the day before. We had no problems at all during the meet. The only change we made was when we wrestled our place matches. We were due to go at 4:00 pm. However, due to impending weather conditions, we made the decisions to start at 2:00 p.m. instead. Things went off without a hitch. After the meet was over, we had a ceremony giving medals to the top six finishers in each class, plaques for coach, wrestler and freshman of the year and the team trophies.
I helped the team break down after the meet which consisted of rolling up the mats, pulling up tape and getting the tarps rolled up. It was back to the office to do the same routine as before. In addition, I had to make a report about each NCAA National qualifier’s record for the year and who they wrestled. I also had to fix any errors and send the evaluations of the officials to the NCAA.
It was 10:00 pm by the time I was done and I was one tired boy. I have to thank the volleyball and wrestling teams for doing an outstanding job working the tables. My runners, Jake Cramer and Joe Miller, were amazing and I could not have gotten the job done without them. Special thanks to Lonny, who surprised a lot of the coaches when they found out he was the AD. I thought Joey did a great job getting this meet here and organized.
