On the TV show Jeopardy they have a category called Hodgepodge, which is a little bit of anything and everything. This blog post will cover a bunch of stuff; hence the title. First, in the SRM 291 class, we are doing the group presentations. We have five groups each talking about a different chapter. They need to have a power point, go over the key points, show outside research and have an in class activity to do.
I feel that in this type of situation, the toughest presentation to do is the first one. After that, it should get easier as you are able to see what Dr. Tiell and I liked and didn’t like. From there you can make the changes needed. It was frustrating because the next three groups obviously did not pay attention. Most of them had PP’s that were difficult to read. One group didn’t have an activity to do. The second group left out half of the chapter. The last group was great because they pay attention and just nailed it.
Dr. Tiell has me creating the second test for the SRM 291 class. This is the first time since the fall of 1992 that I have created a test. I decided to just go through each chapter and jot down notes on what I think is important. When we are in class, I’m make notes on things that Bonnie stresses in class. Then I compare that with what I have and go from there.
This week, was a new opportunity for me in my sports information career. I was asked by our softball coach, Jeff Nickerson, if I would serve as the site supervisor for the softball doubleheader. The supervisor takes care of any issues or concerns that may come up during the course of the game. I might have to deal with an unruly fan, escort a coach out of the facility if they have been ejected and weather issues among others. That experience helped me gain new insights on dealing with problems that may arise.
